Deloitte approached us with a unique challenge: to develop a tool that not only quantifies the carbon emissions of business travel but also educates and influences users to make more sustainable travel choices.
What We Did
We designed and developed the Travel Emissions Calculator, a comprehensive tool that integrates real-time data analysis, personalised travel itineraries, and behavioural insights to make the impact of travel decisions tangible. The tool includes:
Solo traveller mode: Users can create detailed travel plans, compare different transportation modes, and see the immediate carbon impact of their choices.
Multiple traveller mode: Ideal for large projects, this mode allows the input of multiple travellers, frequency of trips, and complex travel scenarios to showcase cumulative carbon savings.
Behavioural influence features: Visual demonstrations of carbon savings from various travel options and nudges towards more sustainable choices.
Usability and Accessibility: To ensure the Emissions Calculator is accessible to all users, the application features a step-by-step interface that simplifies complex data and calculations. Users can easily navigate through the tool to input travel details, generate detailed reports and visual summaries and share results via a unique link or download.
